Master Plan Updates
The City of Green River’s Master Plan Steering Committee with the help of the National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails and Conservation Program and the Greenbelt Task Force are recruiting members to add to working groups developing the master plan based on survey results. We are in need of volunteers to join the groups being formed. The groups are:
Improve Existing trail Access
New Trails/Trail Extension/Connections
Corridor Habitat
River access and recreation
Economic Development
Opportunities for corridor development are made possible after the wastewater treatment plant is built

Greenbelt Progress
Killdeer Wetlands Repair
The Taskforce has applied to the Wyoming Wildlife Natural Resource Trust to revitalize the Killdeer Wetlands. The GBTF informally committed to a $5,000 financial contribution in addition to its in-kind efforts to the wetlands. Rocky Mountain Power has repaired the 2017 breach and restored functionality to the wetlands. If grants are approved, repairs can begin in the early Spring of 2022.
Dog Park Progress
The GBTF has partnered closely with the GRHS National Honor Society to assist in constructing the dog park using GBTF’s nonprofit status. In the next two months, students on the Dog Park Committee within NHS along with select members from the GBTF will seek cash, in-kind donations, or bids for the groundwork to install fencing for the dog park. We hope to break ground in Spring of 2022.
Selling Merchandise
The GBTF is working towards selling more postcards and prints at Red, White, and Buffalo, The Green River Chamber of Commerce, and the Sweetwater County Museum. Profits from these items will help the GBTF to provide matching funds for grants and supplies needed as a non profit. Be sure to stop by and look at the seasonal prints arriving soon.
Expanding Membership of the Board
We are looking for 2-3 more board members who can assist in helping promote the public membership. Friends of the Greenbelt membership will be introduced soon. Citizens may choose to belong by giving a cash donation or with their volunteer efforts. A pamphlet will soon be released as a means to register for Friends of the Greenbelt.
Newest Additions
Triston Drozd and Alli Brown have been selected from Green River High School’s National Honor Society to serve on the GBTF on the Board of Directors as non voting members. Triston is a Junior and plans to stay for two years, while Alli is a Senior who will graduate in 2022. They are both very excited to provide new and young perspectives along with fresh ideas.
