Master Plan Update
Betsy Byrne from the National Park Service - Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance has contacted The Green River Parks & Recreation Department and the Taskforce to kick off a master plan meeting. This meeting, on Jan, 11th at 5:30pm, will be on zoom and will be recorded.
Working groups include:
Improve Existing trail Access
New Trails/Trail Extension/Connections
Corridor Habitat
River access and recreation
Economic Development
Opportunities for corridor development are made possible after the wastewater treatment plant is built
Greenbelt Progress
Killdeer Wetlands Status
The 2017 Diversion Dam breach has been repaired by Rocky Mountain Power. On December 8th, The Wyoming Wildlife Natural Resource Trust approved up to $200,000 matched grant to fully repair the Killdeer Wetlands. The grant still has to be approved by the Wyoming Legislature. Matching grants are being applied for. Rocky Mountain Power would like to continue the bank repair in the near future.
Dog Park Progress
Currently, NHS along with the GBTF are waiting on construction pitches. No further progress has been made.
Selling Merchandise/Promotion
Water Color prints and stationary inspired by the greenbelt have been printed and distributed to the Green River Chamber, Sweetwater Museum and the Red and White Buffalo. Be sure to check them out! There are ideas surrounding a potential Instagram page/website coming soon.
Friends of the Greenbelt
The new Greenbelt Master Plan should be completed by the Summer of 2022. The Master Plan will identify projects to enhance the present facilities. The City and the Task Force will apply for matching grants. To raise funds for the match for grants, the GBTF will be selling Friends of the Greenbelt memberships in the coming months. Please consider purchasing one of these memberships. They are tax deductible. More later where you can purchase these memberships.

Riverside Park
The City is awaiting a grant from WYDOT for Riverside Park that will repair the cracking concrete in the pathway and provide lighting.
Newsletter Sponsorship
The GBTF is planning to improve its public communication in the very near future. This will entail the purchase of software and subscriptions. To help make this transition, The GBTF is seeking an individual or corporation that will sponsor the GBTF newsletter for a year. We are asking $50 a month or $600 for the year.
